Should Grand Theft Auto make it to the university curriculum? Do the decisions you made in Spec Ops: The Line still bother you? Do you need to worry about what videogames your children play? Do videogames have an impact on your life outside the game? Using Ian Bogost’s concept of procedural rhetoric and concepts from games studies such as multiplicity and agency, this talk will address these questions and raise a few more. It will do so by starting with how an Indian boardgame from around a thousand years ago taught us gamification and then continue to read games and play with books.
